Mr. Purushottam Diwakar is a distinguished international photojournalist and documentary photographer with a career spanning an impressive 26 years since 1998. His extensive experience not only reflects his professional acumen but also underscores his unwavering dedication to capturing the multifaceted facets of Indian society, its people, and various communities.

Mr. Diwakar's photographic contributions have held a prominent place within the pages of India Today, often gracing the magazine covers. Notable among his international endeavours are projects in Ghana, Africa, where he worked to enhance the lives of cocoa farmers and uplift livelihoods. After this, he also embarked on a project in Thailand to promote Indian tourism in the region. Additionally, his valuable contributions extended to Congo, Africa, where he engaged in research journalism on a wide array of subjects. He also visited Dubai, where he made significant contributions to the Indian expatriate community, respectively he has travelled across globe for many research projects in furthering the country's interest.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Diwakar has collaborated with numerous NGOs and companies, including Care India, Alliance India, Cairn Oil and Gas Energy, and UNICEF. His portfolio boasts a multitude of photo assignments for esteemed international publications such as Time and the renowned photo agency, SIPA Press.


Mr. Diwakar's work has encompassed intensive coverage of pivotal events, including:

1. A severe drought in Rajasthan.
2. A devastating earthquake in Gujarat.
3. The world's largest fire at the Indian Oil Corporation oil tanks in Jaipur.
4. The aftermath of a serial bomb blast in Jaipur.
5. The tragic Godhara Massacre.
6. A mass agitation led by the Gurjar Community in Rajasthan.


Throughout his career, Mr. Diwakar has used his lens to shed light on pressing social issues such as women and child health, nutrition, girl education, gender discrimination, HIV, and the water crisis in Rajasthan, as well as the preservation of culture and heritage, among others.

In 2012, he founded the Imagine Photojournalist Society, a philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting and promoting the interests and professional development of the photojournalist and photographer community adjoining the main mission of giving a platform the female photojournalist of the society also known as “Camera Commando” A humanitarian goal where women who are a part of it are well equipped to serve the news in any essential mode whether it’s a visual story, an article, a documentary or even a photo feature. This program includes toughest training arena to make every women mentally and physically ready to step in the field of war, famine, drought or other serious issues that scares mankind. They are taught to empathize with people who are or have been a victim to any mishap. Perhaps, the beautification of this initiative aims to bring out the positive stories of our nation globally as we believe the positivity in journalism can help reshape the perspective of citizens. Foremost, they understand the criticality of news before transmission, the circulation of positive news will help in building and maintaining the national security as well as positioning India as the power nation that it is already constantly. Mr. Diwakar’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in the service of this society have served as an inspiration to the younger generation, motivating them to aspire to greater heights.
